2020 Review and a $600 Stimulus Check?

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Our on-air holiday party gets derailed with big stimulus news plus a 2020 recap.

Hey, it's Eddie. Just a quick note on this week's episode. Sorry about the audio quality when it first starts out. It does get better later, but apparently there was an issue with our IDB radio broadcast and that's what records the high quality audio. You don't want to know how the technical stuff works, but anyways, thank you for listening and we wish you a happy holidays. Hope you enjoyed this episode. Okay, it's news to us. It is the week of December twenty one. Two Thousand and twenty our final show of the year. Welcome to the show. Everybody has a going my name is Eddie, I'm Jason Katie, and how are you guys? No, Chris. Chris is out on assignment this week. He had a big story to work on, the big and it's stay tuned for that in two thousand and twenty one. It's coming late. Two Thousand and twenty one. His story waits. Let's stay tuned to that. It's our final show of the year, so will recap the biggest news stories of the year and also really big news story dropped just last night. There was a deal that was reached on the nine hundred billion dollar stimulus releef package will tell you about that and more, but it's really about getting in the holiday spirit. If you're watching a lot alive with us on our brand new video stream, which is improving week after week, you'll see that Katie and Jason are very festive. Look at that they're wearing the dressed up like Christmas trees. We look like Christmas. Yes, yes, do it Christmas. Well, thanks for hang out with us on the live video stream. Everybody, hang out there and let's start the show. Here we go. Oh, of course, of course, there's always has to be like some sort of a technical problem here. It is there we it's news us, Katie. Now all right. Well, we can get into the stimulus package here and just a little bit. This news sort of just snuck up on us. We're planning to do a show where we just, I think, drink on the air and got merry and festive, but then big news dropped and it's ruined all of our plans. Maybe that'll happen the second part of the show. Well, well, yeah, we're still drinking, we're still being festive, very Christmas. Every fun mark. But before the news on the stimulus, let's check them with our social media. First, a lot happened. It's news to us. On twitter, Katie tweeted that Donald Trump lost the election fifty six times in the last two months and I thought that was really good tweet, Katie, that you had. And then he went into to depth about all the stuff that happened there, the pandemic, the lockdown, eight hundred thousand people a week filing for unemployment, three Hundredzero plus dead Americans, crashed economy. and Are we having fun yet? Are We having fun? Yes, your heart, and on my festive mood right now, we'll get festive, don't worry. But another tweet that we had this week, that that really one viral for us, twenty two likes, is a tweet of the article of Milania trumps. You went to the children's hospital and she broke the rules by removing her mask, and of course she did. The captured on that tweet was, just in case you're wonder, with the definition of an asshole. Is Like retweeted a whole bunch of times and everything. But yeah, what a what a Dick move. For a while it move for a while there I thought that, you know, maybe Milania was not one of the I thought maybe she's being held under dress. I think a lot of people thought that maybe she's he was it was a good person. I don't really care to you jacket, I know, but it's trickled out over the past four years that she's just a Dick. Yeah, I mean, I mean she married Donald J trump. Yeah, why, how do you like? All respect is out the window. She looks like an alien. Well, you know, I would say it's, you know, being best right now. You're pulling. Yeah, okay, yes, she she playediarizes Michelle Obama. What was that Christmas video? Remember that, where she was? That came out kind of recently, where she's like. That wasn't a video. It was the leaked. The weeked. Oh, the weeked audio from her star her conversation with her Front Stephanie. Or Yeah, having the decorate for Christmas. Who gives a fuck about Christmas? Is what you said, right. Yeah, she decorates it with red trees. Look Terrible. Who Give folk about cleasemis? I found it here. It is. This is probably even practicing your Russian. I'm completed. I'm just saying, like he I support...

...you. I don't know enough, I don't do enough. NOPE, I put I'm bloking like a ask my ass. I know he's stopped that. You know who keeps about Christmas stuff and the creation, but any happy holidays everybody. That's straight from the way house back, who gives you fuck about grease me, and they're always talking about war on Christmas. Yeah. And then finally, on socials, we tweeted out a pole. It's news to us on twitter. Do you view the new six hundred stimulus check that was just announced as an insult? And Eighty six percent of people said yes, six hundred. That should take care of the past eight months of economic hardship. Yeah, right. Six hundred dollars is two weeks of minimum wage. That's yeah, that's yeah. What is fucking mind blowing? Two weeks of work. I mean it's just crazy to me that people can. People can't live off of it. It's crazy to me that people are allowed to pay those wages. Yeah, right now, blue vines on twitter says it's a gift, not on the amount but in the way. They're letting US know exactly where we stand as a populous without mincing words. At least we now know. Yes, they don't care about us. Yeah, it's good it's a good one. Yeah, it's a it's true. I agree with that statement. Yeah, I mean, other industrialized nations around the world have been receiving, I mean literally, like percentages of their income, like the lowest amount that I've read that they receive as like seventy percent of their income every freaking month of the pandemic for the last nine months. Yeah, they received that amount of their income. Right, we got one, two hundred check months ago, nine months ago, and then six hundred just now. Oh Gee, thank you. Oh wait, we haven't even gotten that yet. They are like really voted on it yet tonight. Well, we'll dive into that a little bit more in just a second real quick before we wrap up. What's going on in social media, Representative Jim Jordan tweeted the best stimulus question mark a job. Fuck Jim Jordan. I can't believe that. So how do people? How do people vote for you? You can't believe he said that. Okay, I believe it, but I can't believe that people revoted this guy into office. YEAHS RE elected. Why did you? What's unbelievable. It is unbelievable. Like, fuck this guy, like vote for this dude out of touches this fucker. Well, sorry, I drop the bomb. Oh No, they're go. There goes. We just lost our license, our license to podcast and broadcast on IDB radio. Anyways, a lot can be said about that, about Republican voters voting against their best interest. We've talked about that all year. But let's let's get into our main story here, the dirty deets. That way we can start being a little bit more festive here with our our festivities, are our Christmas cocktails, if you will, the dirty deeds. And look at this week's most important stories. A deal has been reached on the nine hundred billion dollar stimulus relief package just last night. So this is, of course, after Moscow. Mitch refused to bring the relief bill to the floor, and less he only one of the biggest sticking points for him is they wanted the relief bill to wipe away all covid related lawsuits filed against corporate entities, so that way corporations couldn't be sued because their employees got covid nineteen, and that was like one of the biggest sticking points coming from the Republican Party, saying, you know, we want corporate immunity. Well, yeah, I mean like, after all, these meat packing plants were like sending their employees to work knowing that they were going to get sick and possibly die, and all these other comp I mean so many companies, you just watch it on the news day after day, have done this over and over and over again. They're sending their employees into small little areas, not implementing health concerns or any you know, doing anything to keep them safe. Some of them report that they don't even have things like soap on a regular basis. And then they don't want to get...

...sued when people die. Right. Yeah, like, what the Hell is that? Well, we don't hold corporations responsible for anything in this country. Now. We give them more money. That's what we now. We give them tax breaks, we we help them more. Yeah, we're more concerned about propping up airlines and corporations than we are are actual people in this country. Yeah, we're not really. Capitalism is so much says. We are corporate socialism. Yeah, yeah, it's socialism for the the corporations and the rich, and then capitalism for the rest of us. I mean, there's numerous articles about how lower the middle class America is bearing the brunt of this pandemic economically, but they don't. Were and over and over again. I mean, yeah, okay, I here's Moscow Mitch on the the relief package agreement at the from Fox News. I think this is just earlier today. Well, Dan, and they facts are not irrelevant. I said back in July what the country nated was a package roughly of trillion dollars focused on kids in school, small businesses, healthcare providers and direct cash. Pretty much we tried to pass. We started advocating that in July and August. The talks for unproductive. Well, it was little upward. Yeah, right, I was. I will turtle. Well, as we said, like bullshit, it's just bullshit. It is you out of his mouth. Yeah, but what's bullshit about that, Jason? Well, but it's bullshit. The House passed there. We have the cares act and then we have the Heroes Act. That the House pass the Heroes Act back in May and it's sad on Mitch McConnell's desk about providing more funding to state and city governments and more's payments direct to Americans. So I'd stay home. All the things which McConnell just said, except they disagreed with this, the money to the state and city governments and they wanted to argue about this people suing corporate entity. I mean that was his sticking point from the beginning. He did, I am again, first before the cares act, he said that he didn't want corporations to be liable and being eligible to be sued. And then did you guys hear like just in the last like forty eight hours it was, I think it was pat to me he was trying to like he was coming up with some like assinine ideas about what was he saying? I didn't see it. Oh, he had all kinds of crazy ideas about when the new year came around and when Biden was in office, that there couldn't be anymore like stimulus pack passed through the Federal Reserve. Oh yeah, because he will. Yeah. Well, yeah, so now now republicans are becoming fiscally conservative suddenly. Yeah, it's sudden they care about that deficit. Yeah, now that there's Democrat in office, and this is just after they passed that huge, huge tax cut on rich people. But so the stimulus, though, that was just past a six hundred per person. Of course, this is based on income and if it's for people that are making less than seventy five thous and then it starts to go down in amount up to ninety nine thousand dollars, and if you make more than that you don't get anything at all. And it'll also extend federal jobless benefits for Americans, of course, at level of three hundred dollars per week, and cover up to eleven weeks of UNAPPLIMENT through March fourteen, which is just not long. I mean not actually. You know, it's probably better that they didn't make a long package deal and just let the Biden administration handle it. We'll see what happens. I mean if, of course, of the Democrats get the house, that means it is going to be a lot more eight on the way, and this is just really not enough. And if you have you have people like Andrew Yang and a lot of the progressive saying that and Bernie Sanders saying that. At minimum, what we should be doing to get people through this pandemic is to be sending every household at least two and there are twozero per month. It look been floated around and that's been a number that economists have also agreed upon to. So yeah, AOC is frustrated with this whole thing, and also so this the the bill was passed, I mean during a time when Congress is supposed to be off right. They're not even supposed to be off those sort of...

...rush I would not not supposed to be working. So it was sort of rushed through and AOC said, quote on twitter, it's not good enough to hear about what's in the bill. She's well, okay at it. She's a little out of context here, what you say, but she's basically angry because this five thousand page stimulus bill was pushed through without enough time to review it. So who knows that the hell's in this thing, because who has the time to read five thousand pages? Well, and politicians always do this. Democrat and Republican know right. Well, shity. Yeah, they shove different things into a bill just, you know, especially when it's the time of need, right so to get their way anything. Yep, ending. Yeah, it's just Adam Schiff says this week. He says each weet this. This week, Republicans objected to giving workers one two hundred dollar checks to pay rent and feed their families. Why? The deficit. They didn't care about the deficit when they passed to trillion dollars in tax cuts for big corporations and millionaires. The biggest deficit is in their values. You Burn shifty. It's true. It's true. Yeah, here is Nancy Pelosi talking about what went down here, talking about the stimulus. We also have in the legislation direct payments, which we are not in the Republican bill, to America's working families. I would like them been bigger, but they are significant and they will be going out soon. The President Mayn sister and having his name on the check, but make no mistake, those checks are from the American people. That is the thing. That's the real thing. This, this is our money, and when we pay the federal government we expect it to work for us and to be there as a safeguard for us in case, I don't know, there's a goddamn pandemic. Yeah, in case we need it. A scenario. It's sort of like so I think some people forget that the government is is there for us and it's our money. At these are the are elected officials our government, our government, people for the people. People pick sides and they're like you know, it's me against you and US it. No, actually, it's the people against the government. To really, if you want, that's where we should be uniting as a country if we want better lives. Yeah, it's just really frustrating, but you know, it's not frustrating. Yes, Jason. Well, I was gonna say yeah, to keep going. I'm like about say now, go ahead. They would just say no, I had to look up something. anyways. Tell me. How's my train of thought? Okay, well, that's you can't start something and then stop it. Well, he's soft me, and then bad back up and I lost it. Well, you know what I really love? Was I was going to say is hello fresh. Oh, I'm a customer of hello fresh. Love the OH. Just last night we made this wonderful steak who so delicious and so easy to is like steak, potatoes, carrots. It was seriously probably the best hello fresh I have had. But Hello Freshway, yeah, what so delicious? You guys have used hello fresh? You guys are great. It is. Yeah, comes so convenient, comes right to you your contactless delivery, easy to follow recipes. You can be that. I can do it. Jason could do it. I don't do it, but I could do it. Yeah, yeah, I mean. And it's also cuts out like the whole thing and you're in everybody's lives. You're like, what's for dinner? I don't know. What do you want on? I don't know what are you want? Now you just say we're having hello fresh. Shut the F up worst, yeah, having a delicious meal, no need to argue over it. And and it saves a lot of money, you can say forty percent with hello fresh versus shopping in the grocery store. All right. So, if you're trying to avoid the grocery store all together, though, this is the perfect opportunity to do that with some delicious metals alivered right to your doorstep. And their carbon footprint is twenty five percent lower, lower actually, than store bought grocery made meals, if you're worried about the shipment and how that impacts the environment. Hello fresh so far has donated three point five million meals too, by the way, to families, and that's really awesome, especially, you know, we're just talking about that with a stimulus as a lot of people in need. So hello fresh their socially conscious as well. Go to hello freshcom at news to US eighty and use code news to US eighty to eighty off, including free shipping. That's hello, freshcom news to US eighty and use code news to US eighty to get eighty dollars off, including free shipping. Thank you. Hello fresh. Oh, that's delicious, delicious. Any final thoughts...

...about the stimulus before we sum up the year? That was two thousand and twenty. Yes, I have final thoughts to this. Okay, what I would just like to point out? Like, Republicans are all about the deficit. Now, allegedly, I just read that they just pushed a one point three billion dollar package for the border of wall. I've also seen no articles where they purchased like millions of mass, like hundreds of millions of maths, like enough for five mass per person. But they had no delivery, so they paid for the mask and they just sat there. Thank you, jared Kushner. Yep. I also would like to point out that the six hundred fourteen billionaires in America grew their collective net worth by nine hundred thirty one billion dollars since mid March. And when we're bitching about paying Americans, the hard working Americans, money, six hundred six hundred dollar, which is done, which hanging them two thous a month. Like most countries, they don't have health care. Like most countries, universal health care are her are our health care is tied to our jobs. Oh and I also read today that our Congress people make four hundred and twenty dollars a day. It's just blows my mind. Yeah, our government is now working sleep them. Is just, and also we allow it. Fuck Jim Jordan. Okay, this is all over the place, but God, it's not all like a hojh positive. Oh, it's all like a Popoi has of Fud. Stop It. I was on a train of thought and its Fuck Jim Jordan, just trying to wrap it up there in a nice little bu no, I wasn't right. It's not ready to be wrapped up. Okay, go ahead and there, like we really gotta think about this as Americans, like and like he said at the beginning, like people still vote Republicans into office. They're voting its own interest. Like how is universal healthcare not a thing for America, but it is for every other civilized nation? They don't see it that way because they see all this propaganda about how healthcare is so terrible in Canada and how the government takes over and it's all gets so much worse and it's socialism and it'll be just like Cuba and this, that and the other. But like, it's not socialism, it's your tax dollars working for you. And Healthcare in Canada is ten times better than healthcare in America, but they don't see that because they watch Fox News. So that brings us back to this one big thing that we never get into because it's too big to get into. When and we talked about, you know, Mitch mcconnald trying to protect corporations rights, like meanwhile, like the the Walton's, like the family that owns Walmart, the largest single employer in the nation, they all grew their net worth by, you know, eight to ten billion dollars for each of them, and I know that this is like tearing it just their workers. Yeah, yeah, they're the workers are on food stamps, yeah, and Food Bank lines, like people are behind on the rent. Like, what are we doing? I don't know. What are we doing? Why? Why don't we let's go fucking I right now? And so many people are unemployed or underemployed, like how's is happening. Normal people don't have stocks. It's just all backwards and bullshit. The the stock market isn't the economy. Thank you. People need to realize that the stock market is not the economy. I mean that's just anything of the best. Very small percentage of Americans actually own stock. IBI radio. All right, we're back your live on I dow radio. It's news to us. What's going on, guys? What's happening during that commercial break? Sound like something exciting happened. I told Jason in the kitchen that he was holding up progress and he's like it's because I'm like a Republican. Oh, because you're stilling and going back on the air, but I'm both always a joker. So you guys getting it in the holiday spirits right now? Yes, we're working on it. Yeah, it's hard this year. It looks like Christmas threw up in our living room. It is really hard to do get into the spirit right now, though. Oh whatever, you've been so into the spirit now. It's harder for me this year. What is your what is your Christmas tree look like? I guess we probably probably hard for you to turn around. I can out. Don't talk about it. It's really bumming me out. He has not about...

...it because, yeah, what's happening with your Christmas tree? The lights on our ristmas tree got two thousand and twenty eight. I I gotta see it. FOUND IT burnt out? No, we can't show you because Jason's really upset about it. I'm not doing it. Just turn the AMERN. Our lights outside are amazing, though. Yeah, we have the best lights in the neighborhood. I'M NOT gonna lie. Oh Sh that's that's good at these. Yeah, it's star treads. fucked. We have a Charlie Brown tree this year. No Lights. That's more of a classic lights. You just bought that Christmas tree, I thought. And that's already not working. Capitalism, bullshit, fuck capitalism. Well, about to open up a holiday beverage. Oh, it's all my cloth. I have a Tightan IPA, who great divide. They did not sponsor, but there you go. Do you want to sponsor? And why are you backwards? Oh my God, what's wrong with my Canada? Deson's favorites as those letters backwards are bad words sound. You're mirrored. Why am I marred now that you say it? Something pretty one is backwards in the Oh wow, what's happened? Why is everything weird? And we're actually backwards too. Were we weird? I don't know. That's leas strange funny. But let's talk about the biggest news stories of two thousand and twenty, because so much has happened this year and it's time to recap that a little bit, because why not? Did you remember? We started out the year with the Australian bushfires. Insane, those wildfires. Who's never stated forty seven million acres and displaced thousands of people and killed thirty four. Was it like one billion different animals? Yeah, died, insanity. Here's a the videos of those animals getting rescued. Those were those are cool. Yeah, sad, but will people were doing that. There's a little bit of video to on that and audio. I want to offer my condolences to the people of Australia for the tragic loss of life and property caused by the devastating wall fliers across that region. America's thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and the emergency service personnel putting themselves in harms way, and the same goes to for the dozens of US fire fighting personnel. There's Pompeo, who turned out to be a complete asshole Douche, but we all really cars were just like a precursor of what was. They hit the US and our summer right. Yeah, man, yeah, a lot of wildfires this year. So much has happened. I remember David and Australia called in during I remember our old man and such a crazy year that. Yeah, he ended up getting covid then he passed away shortly after. To a longtime contributor of the show, but he he was on the scene for the Australian bushfires, reporting for us live. That's crazy. How much happened this year? My God, yeah, it's crazy. We lost them. Yeah, condolences his family and, you know, rest in peace, David. We do miss you. We do. Probably would have loved the crap out of this new video thing we're doing. Oh Dad, man, what else for you, David? For you, David, we've only probably only done two shows in person this year, right, not that many? No, I think we did more like at the beginning, like HMM, we're at least I was there, like it was you and me there the first like a month. I was like two months, Janny, were in February and then we switch to remote. You know, March when covid kind of took over. Yeah, it's crazy like that. We can do it all remote. What do we ever do? What ever, remember you guys doing it in person? You know, it's like so long ago. What do we ever do it in person again at this point? Because it more convenient for you, Jason, you don't is but there is something to be said about us being able to hang out. Yeah, they's doing it in person. That's a part of the point. or any one things get back to normal? You know, we could do if we don't do it in person every week, we at least do it caur cocktail round tables once a month or something. I don't know. Yeah, we'll see. Ye, a way to do it. I was trying to get back to normal here. Well, WE'RE gonna get back to Norway. Figure it out. Yeah, but anyways, other big news stories of two thousand and twenty. Prince Harry and Megan muckle quit the royal family. I know that you were devastated, Jason, when you got this news. I had no I was thrilled for Prince Harry and Megan Marco, but I was devastated for the royal family. I had to talking. I really lost the treasure there with Prince Terry Sarkle. No, Prince Terry was Megan Markel. No, Prince Terry's he is. They are both such such a treasure. Meg and Marco, when she was...

...on that one show. Yeah, why is he so? Suits? Suits, we liked to. We like suits. You actually knew her as an actress? Yeah, we watched suits all the time. That's really weird. You're real. You're weird. Yeah, I mean, I just didn't. I didn't realize that people actually knew her acting. Oh yeah, yeah, that's crazy. Well, yeah, so they left the royal family. What are they doing now? They're like in Canada. Yeah, living their best lives are and I hear one of them is night managing at Denny's or something that as they can't take any money. This isn't denny. They're not allowed to take any money right from the royal families in that part of the arrangement. I'm sure they say that, but whatever's you know, they get some cash. What is the Royal Family? What? You should watch the royals on Netflix if you really want to learn about the royal families just I mean it's just all for show. They have like no, like no power. Really, right, they do. They have power in society and influence. M All right, so there like a corporation in America, according to Chris. Chris actually say said. I don't know if this is true. I never really liked cared to look into it more, but actually it's kind of interesting. Chris said that the Queen can actually over rule parliament in in the UK, but it's customary not to. So they actually do have power. Hey, yeah, I thought so. Yeah, so she doesn't use it. Well, they don't Gus. They stay out of politics. That's the policy made them. I really repect for her to them the relayers family. She is so anytimes she gets slightly political, to big deal, like what she yeah, what is the Royal Family? Liked a royal family. Fuck, is that like the let's what my trumps are? What it's? What? What is it? What is the Royal Family Coming Secial? I don't get it. Yeah, it will make walls. You're not from the United Kingdoms, you don't really understand, but you know, maybe someone can enlighten me out of well, we have to watch the show. I don't want to watch that. Ye, I know. Also, big news stories to two thousand and twenty, because so much happened, as we can of review. Kobe Bryant died. Did you guys hear about that? Fuck, yeah, I forgot about that. No, I forgot. A huge news, so crazy, that helicopter crash. Also Sad. Shouldn't have been flying at all. Yeah, Yeah's ability. They shouldn't even never have taken off. Hey, wall daughter died. Tragic. Yeah, that was terrible. I'm here, here your yeah, very rough and moment and at this happened. Like I want to say what was right before the pandemic was yeah, yeah, I was like right, like days. Oh, actually, I got into February. made it. Wait, February is living. I got the date for you if you want to know. It's that mean. Listen, this year has been such a shit show. Is Actually January. Twenty six what? Yeah, days, wow. Yeah, before I thought it was February. Here's some words of wisdom from Kobe Bryant himself. Those times when you get up early and you work hard, those times that you stay up late and you work hard, those times where you don't feel like working you too tired, you don't want to put yourself but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. That's the dream. It's not the destination, it's the journey. And if you guys, if you guys, can understand that, then what you'll see happen is that you won't accomplish your dreams. Your dreams won't come true, something greater will. And and what is that? You have a show like this. It's news to us, because I'll tell you, I did not want to do this show today. I didn't, but I thought, you know what, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. The show might be a little bit rough, I'm going to do it because Kobe Bryant gave me the inspiration. Thanks, Champ. I'm sorry. Everybody else, a lot of downt downers for stories. Two Thousand and twenty, don't you fire of a year. I feel like it's not even the hardest here we've lived through, not you and I. But yeah, I know it's on top of the last two years shit. Yeah, well, at least your shit years weren't combined into one, because I would have been unbearable, like for anybody to go through at least been spread out through. You gotta lean in on each other like a Byde. No, you gotta lead in on each other really like to get through hard times. That's a bright spot. Like, yeah, he would recognize and learned from this. Like, yeah, leaned it on your family, your loved ones. What the mean? It on you. Yeah, are you...

...going to break into song now, Jason? No, but interesting enough. Of Two thousand and twenty, the man who sang the song died. Come on, would you stop it already? Bill withers done, you're laughing, and it's true. He really died. Yeah, God, this year sucked. I'm pretty sure he died this year. Yeah, knocking up. I'm gonna Google it. Yeah, Google that. We need to confirm that. Yeah, Bill withers. No, you're right, he did die. I'm just not seeing April. He April Twenty eight. Why did it? Give me a Fox News article and I clicked on. Yeah, yeah, he did pass away there. So two thousand and twenty. Yeah, Y' All, the lost what Charles Poseman? Yeah, okay, wait, but we didn't Peach Donald Trump. Yes, that did happen. Finald trump was impeached. Yeah, it's all take off. No, but it was in peach. I think he was impeached in two thousand and nine team. Now he was a this year. That's actually on this it was really twenty. Yeah, and February five, it all was when he was acquitted. Is February five. Bullshit, bullshit impeachment that we covered on the show, by the way. Will preface that because no witnesses were allowed and it was just really not taken seriously by the Democrats. They were just trying, I mean the Republicans, they were trying to push this through as quickly, mean possible. Lindsay Graham was, you know, he's like ARD PUMPS OLF on a show. Graham said before it he ever heard any remarks in the Senate, that he was going to vote to quit him now. Really, Oh yeah, actually, I yeah, actually, we talked about that just recently, didn't we did. And also, oops, don't need to have that up yet. That's just a browser window. If you're watching on the video Harvey Weinstein. That whole thing happened to at the beginning of the year with the the the me to movement and Harvey. Well, it was kind of like the conclusion of the the Weinstein saw a part of it, because he was convicted back in February, which seems like a lifetime ago, but here is a little bit of that. Did You Rey? took their time, they asked very thoughtful questions in advances verdict and we thanked them for their service all this her story case and for their carefully considered verdict, which I believe is a just result as to me. Me and the Jessica Harvey Weinstein will now have to finally face the serious consequences of this criminal behavior at his sentencing here in New York and Marshal Levens. I mean that just seems like years ago, like years right. I know really does. Try to bring up our chat window here. Reginald was a laughing about something, but it don't look like it's coming up on the video. But we're now allowed. Are Now now we have the the ability to bring up our chat on the side here. Reginald wanted to say something, but he's it's not looks like. He says ha ha, ha ha, very important, we are funny. So I don't know what it which when he was laughing at ha ha is what Reginald says. Crazy. Hear, though, and let's not forget black lives matter. That like one of the the biggest important things to happen in society for a very long time and it was just a monumentous movement. Here's actually a little bit of footage from protests in our hometown Denver. Yes, yea, and of course you know that stemmed from the killings of George Floyd, Brianna Taylor. There was others. I mean, I mean it's something that continues on and more protests erupted after Jacob Lake. It's and you know it's some change did result of the black lives matter protests, as we've seen in some parts of the country with the and this is where the Democrats really kind of this is really fall apart. As Ay, they did the whole defund the police thing, and that kind of way to describe what they were trying to get at really really put them in a bad position. So we're the the Democrats have to get it together. You can't say defund the police. It sounds bad and it's not what they were trying to accomplish. Wait, wait, so when you say Democrats, you're saying elected officials and people running for...

...office. Some were saying that, but most of that was coming from the actual people who were marching in protests, who who typically support a more democratic leaning ticket. Okay, yeah, well, more progressive ticket. I don't think I really ever heard any Democrats in office say defund the police. I think some people did. Are Some of them dead? Like they went with it. There were maybe three. There were. Joe Biden, like what like, was one of the people that didn't agree with that and kind of win any voices to yeah, you, he was against the defunding the police. Yeah, but the defund the police thing was still out there and probably the marvel and and there there's this no strong progressive voices that we're saying like no, you're not defunding the police. We have to figure out a different marketing angle on this. WOULDE. Thats really what it is, is marketing. How do you remark, like what they were really saying is reallocate funding. I know that, but how do you adit? A few people that were saying don't you know, you can't say that. You have to say it has to be said differently. But nobody was listening. You know, like how do you get that message out above the other messages? Honestly, I think the best message that should have been used as helpe the police, like we rely on the police to do so much in our corecty. They should be helping them. We're asking him to be mental health. It's a whole social work. There's little workers, yes, on the street more like we should be helping them. We should not be burdening them with managing so much in our society. Thank that's a great way to put it. Help the police, not the mental health concerns and HMM right. Yeah, we should be helping them, like they have too much on them, like I respect police like we we ask too much of them and we need to help them out more. That's the message it should be, because that's what ultimately what people wanted. Yeah, we'll be right back, though we have to hit our last break. It's news to us. You can watch along on twitch, on our youtube channel, on facebook and, of course, we are live on a dobe radio and also podcasting on Apple, podcast, spotify, wherever you get your favorite podcast. Will be right back. Don't go anywhere. All right, we're back here live on a dobe radio. It's news to us. Hey, everybonther, thank you for hanging out with us. Two Thousand and twenty one. We're looking forward to a much better year. But if a couple other things to recap, though, before we wrap up the show. And also, do you guys have to vent anymore? You look very festive, but it's also quite kind of funny when you guys are yelling and screaming and being very frustrated with how life has been this year while wearing those flashing necklaces that you're wearing. HMM, because we're passed. Yeah, yeah, now, I think, I think I release some tension. You got it all out. You released it at least, and you won't have to beat me later. Oh Geez, all right. Well, yeah, what about words of hope? Do we have any hope for two thousand and twenty one? I we have the vaccine, and the way that that's been progressing has been pretty awesome. I think we have the most hope for two thousand and twenty one. As far as the way it's going to be distributed, I mean that's the biggest cluster fuck with the vaccine, and it's already being meddled with with the trump administration. But as soon as there our adults in the room and people start taking this thing, I'm worried about like that. The Biden and administration doesn't really they're not going to know the full damage, like the extent of the damage, until they get into office. For thirty days away. And we're still thirty days away. So, so and and they're still sabotaging and they're still blocking and there's this is very uplifting right now. Well, I'm come on, let's so I'd like eyes. Like there's that aspect, but like there's also that like we're getting this new administration and it is full of all competent people, all competent people, and it's really like the way it's lining up. It's a clear representation of the American population. And these people know what they're walking into there. You know, they're experts, they're not lobbyists, they're not you know know,...

...and and they know they're walking in to being blocked and these things hidden from them, in things being covered up, in the corruption, and they know what they're walking into. So I have I have hopes. Pretty cool. I have high hopes for this new administration. All right, yeah, I mean we'll see what happens. Of course I have high hopes as well. And you know what gives you a betty, I mean, could get much worse than this year two thousand and twenty? Could it really get one MM, I mean a glower global God fucking help us. But the thing is this, this pandemic has words, has really distracted us in this country, because there are a lot of issues that we need to be still thinking about, like healthcare, especially climate change. Little Man, climate change is like still this big thing that I'm afraid that this pandemic has distracted it a lot of us, and I agree. And the thought in the back of my mind too, yeah, and that that's like just such a huge, huge, huge, huge issue. It's an existential crisis. Bull my God. What are years? Well, either that the Biden team hasn't lost sight of climate change. They haven't. They've they've kept sight of that, like they're they're working on that still while they move forward, you know. So now there's that. There's still working on everything. Yeah, but also, though, you know, we were talking about the biggest new stories of two thousand and twenty. We didn't even get to like half of these. We have to mention a couple things before the shows over, though, because we wouldn't be doing it ourselves, and the world justice by not mentioning, mentioning the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg was also a huge so many things happened this year that changed the outlook of life. So huge. Yeah, Socia justice. Ruth Bader GINSBURG has died at the age of eighty seven, just weeks before the start of the quartz fall session and in the shadow of a presidential election now just forty five days away. Now, let's not forget what happened with that. Now we did a whole show on that, with how amy cone Ryant was just steam rolled through there and why he can bear it. Bear it are whatever. The fucker. Who Cares that her name is? She's I mean, because one bitch the again, when we needed stimulus relief, Congress and Mitch McConnell, we're pushing through a Supreme Court justice. It's just like so much aggravation. Yeah, I really am tired of it. And I guess what, when you ask what gives me hope, I guess the vaccine, but also Georgia. We're all eyes are on Georgia, the Georgia runoffs. We're just help us that. Georgia's like my sliver of hope right now because if Gorgia can I get those two Senate seats. It's going to be a different America for the better, and a lot of people don't realize that. Early voting seems to indicate that it might be going well. Yeah, I mean, if Georgia pulls through, our lives are gonna drastically change for the better. Record number of people have done early voting, more so now then in the presidential election we just had back in November. They have registered. I can't even remember how many people. I read that they've registered to vote, but I think it was. I don't I don't even want to quote a number. It was a ridiculously huge number and more than more than the margin that bide in one Georgia, I though, have been registered to vote, and more than fifty three percent of those voters, I do remember that number, are under the age of like twenty five. Wow. Yeah, yeah, I was crazy about two thousand and twenty real quick. Yeah, I've only had one haircut. Who all right, year yet an, you gotta show off those those Luxious, luscious locks. Can you give us a closeup on your on your high real quick, there, let's no, I can't. Katie's she's embarrassed by them. But I've only one haircut and the entire year of two thousand and twenty and I usually get a haircut like all the time, all the time. You literally like a normal human...

I really. I'm I've only had two, but I cracked way before you. I cracked like two or three months ago. I couldn't handle it anymore. I also cracked two or three months ago when I couldn't hearn Ale it anymore. But Jill, hold out, you're still going. So, yeah, he's he's determined to have a mollet. No, I'm not a hold out. I don't hold out determined to have a mullet. I'm stable and steady. No, I'm a steady hand the world of chaos. A bullet us all, betty hand in the rule. Yeah, he just wants, he just wants to expense to have a moullet. That's all he wore. It's that's all. Mary Christmas very case was getting a mullet. Mary Christs all right, that's your Chris. Well, as we wrap up our final show two thousand and twenty, thank you to all of our listeners and we've had amazing guests on the show to we didn't even get to talk about that. But yeah, we had David Dukovny, Michael C Hall, we had God, who else is just like the past, briget undergrown under days now in all humber, numerous people running for office, a many of them, so many. Fine steady had on. What? Fine Stein? Fine Stein, come on, no, we don't. That's a why? What do you mean? That's a lie. We did have diane fine stuff up. Lindsay Graham came on. No, let's the Graham makes apparent frequently. Wendy Graham's on all the time. We did have some amazing candidates all here. That was really exciting to talk to all these candidates that were getting ready to Oh, yeah, for Election Day. Like like we helped fuel the grassroots movement. I do choose jeans, swear engine, Emily Kincaid, Shannon fresh hour, and that was really fun. Tims in the the elections like that was like exciting. Yeah, exciting thing to be a partner. That was that what brings me, and I mean what I'm really excited for, to in two thousand and twenty one is now at this video thing is sort of figured out and it's not too stressful for me and I stressful as I thought, as we can actually get these candidates on camera with us too. We also, if we forgot, we had mama old, almost com arnold, our election night special. We were alive for four hours, more hours straight, and everybody said that it was I got a lot of compliments on that, actually saying that when you're welcome, saying that we did a great job comiventing you guys and like everybody. So yeah, anyways, thank you to everybody. That's been a great year. As far as you know. US trying to make sense of it and I don't know, the show, I feel, has been pretty good this year. Is what I'm trying to say. It's been a horrible year, though. I not not trying to, you know, gloss over that, but we'll come back two thousand and twenty one with a lot more stuff and stronger than ever.
